David Aho

Managing Director

Mr. Aho joined Colbeck in 2009. At Colbeck, he is responsible for overseeing the investment team, sourcing and leading investments, and supporting the Managing Partners in constructing an investment strategy and managing the portfolio. Mr. Aho manages investments in retail, pharmaceuticals, internet and real estate. Prior to joining Colbeck, he was an analyst in the high yield and distressed group at DKR Oasis Capital Management where he reported directly to the portfolio manager. Previously, Mr. Aho worked as a credit analyst at Primus Asset Management which managed Primus CLO I & II and Harrier Credit Opportunities Fund, and he traded ETFs and futures on the floor of the American Stock Exchange. Mr. Aho graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a dual-major in economics and in international relations. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Robert Gallivan

Managing Director

Mr. Gallivan joined Colbeck in 2016. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Gallivan was a Senior Managing Director at Macquarie Securities USA Inc. since 2009, most recently as Head of Credit Sales and Trading with responsibility for a multi-jurisdictional proprietary trading book as well as the firm's customer trading relationships. Prior to Macquarie, Mr. Gallivan was a Managing Director, Distressed Sales at Morgan Stanley from 2000-2009 and was a founding member of Toronto Dominion Securities High Yield effort from 1994 to 2000. Mr. Gallivan began his career at Toronto Dominion Bank in 1990, spending from 1991-1994 as a Credit Restructuring banker. By 1994, he was responsible for over $2.0BN in restructurings across various industries but most heavily weighted to real estate. In addition to his trading and investing roles, Mr. Gallivan has helped structure and place billions of HY new issue and private debt in addition to facilitating block secondary trades. Career highlights include investing, sales and trading experience in a variety of products and geographies including: Distressed/Stressed Bonds and Loans, Non-Performing Loan Portfolios, Pre-IPO Equity and Debt, Post-Reorganization Equity, Trade Claims, “Loan to Own” lending and Special Situations Financing. In 2007, Mr. Gallivan sourced the opportunity and played a key role resulting in Citadel’s assumption of a faltering hedge fund’s $10bn credit book.

Tony Hokayem

Managing Director

Mr. Hokayem joined Colbeck in 2013.  Prior to joining Colbeck, he was a Director at PNC Capital Markets.  While at PNC, he worked in numerous capacities as a corporate banker and portfolio manager across the corporate bank.  Mr. Hokayem has also held positions in the risk management, contract finance, asset based lending, and specialty finance verticals.  He has spent most of his career focused on private middle market companies.  Additionally, Mr. Hokayem has lectured at New York University's Stern School of Business, taught at Wall Street Training, and spoken at multiple investment conferences.  Mr. Hokayem holds a Master’s in Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business where he graduated with highest distinction.  Mr. Hokayem holds the rank of Eagle Scout and is actively involved with mentorship programs across New York City.

Peter Ma

Managing Director

Mr. Ma joined Colbeck in 2012. At Colbeck, Mr. Ma is responsible for sourcing and leading investments and supporting the managing partners in constructing an investment strategy and managing the portfolio. Prior to joining Colbeck, he was an Investment Banker at MESA (now Houlihan Lokey) where he advised media and entertainment companies on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and strategic financings, with a particular focus on structured transactions. Mr. Ma recently was named to Forbes 30 under 30 in the media category. With expertise in Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) investing, Mr. Ma frequently speaks on industry panels regarding strategic lending, particularly in film. A graduate of Harvard University, Mr. Ma also serves on the Social Investment Council at Echoing Green, a social impact fund that unleashes next-generation talent to solve the world’s biggest problems through seed funding and access to the private sector. Member of the Board of Trustees at Woodbury University, one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Southern California with campuses in Burbank/Los Angeles and San Diego.

Greg Shamo

Principal

Mr. Shamo joined Colbeck in 2016 as a member of its investment team. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Shamo was Co-Chief Operating Officer for Relativity Media, with a focus on structured finance and other transactional activities. Mr. Shamo had previously represented Relativity as outside legal counsel at Loeb & Loeb LLP, where his practice focused on corporate finance and general corporate representation. Prior to Loeb & Loeb, Mr. Shamo represented banks and other lenders in commercial and corporate finance matters at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP. Mr. Shamo transitioned into finance from a bankruptcy practice at Danning, Gill, Diamond & Kollitz LLP. He began his career in the government contracts litigation group at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP.

Chris Brown

Vice President

Mr. Brown joined Colbeck in 2016. Prior to joining Colbeck, he worked for Barclays’ Investment Bank in the Strategic Transactions Group. While there, Mr. Brown was a member of the Execution Team, a group focused on structuring investments and trades for clients and Barclays’ own account. Mr. Brown helped develop and implement structured financing transactions across several asset classes. Mr. Brown graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He is a Charted Financial Analyst.

Keith Johnson

Vice President

Mr. Johnson joined Colbeck in 2018. At Colbeck, he is responsible for sourcing and leading investments and supporting the Managing Partners in constructing an investment strategy and managing the portfolio. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Johnson was a Vice President at Wells Fargo in the Los Angeles Commercial Banking group. While at Wells Fargo, he worked as a Portfolio Manager, focusing on credit structuring, underwriting, and deal execution. Prior to Wells Fargo, Mr. Johnson held a similar position focusing on credit underwriting and deal structuring for middle market companies at JPMorgan Chase in Chicago, IL. Mr. Johnson holds a Master’s in Business Administration from DePaul University’s Kellstadt School of Business and a Bachelor of Sciences in Economics from Louisiana State University.

Mr. Vande Guchte joined Colbeck in 2018. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Vande Guchte was an associate at GPB Capital Holdings, a lower-middle market private equity buyout firm, with approximately $1.8 billion of assets under management. Mr. Vande Guchte was responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and executing transactions across the private equity firm’s investment strategies. Mr. Vande Guchte graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Managerial Finance with a focus in Economics.

Evan Buckwalter

Business Development

Evan Buckwalter joined Colbeck in 2019, with a primary focus on business development initiatives. Mr. Buckwalter previously worked in business development at FloQast, a FinTech SaaS startup, where he sourced qualified opportunities across the midmarket sector. Prior to that, he worked in asset management at peer to peer real estate startup Patch of Land, where he consulted with borrowers, ensuring they hit contractual benchmarks and maintained required financial solvency levels. Mr. Buckwalter received a Master’s in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Management from the University of Nottingham in the UK, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Baabur Khondker

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Khondker joined Colbeck in 2016. At Colbeck, Mr. Khondker is responsible for all financial related matters of the firm. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Khondker was Controller of the Merchant Banking Division for Morgan Stanley Asset and Investment Management. Mr. Khondker began his career with Deloitte & Touche in their Assurance and Advisory practice. He was also part of the IPO team that took Blackstone Public and held various other finance position within Blackstone. Mr. Khondker holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the Baruch College of the City University of New York.

Darren Augi

Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Augi is a global Information Technology Executive with over 28 years of experience as a business innovator, strategist, and thought leader with a successful entrepreneurial and corporate management background. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Augi was Chief Information Officer with NTT (Dimension Data Holdings) an over $100 billion global ICT services & telecommunications company encompassing over 300,000 employees globally. In his role Mr. Augi was focused on IT service development and instituting emerging technologies in the enterprise. As a key member of the Americas executive team he was personally involved in all facets of the business along with merger, acquisition and divestiture activities. Prior to Dimension Data, Mr. Augi was the founder of a premier action sports & digital commerce retailer called NEWSKOOL.com. Mr. Augi graduated from SUNY Empire State with a B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems and a minor in Corporate Finance.

Morris Beyda

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Beyda joined Colbeck in 2009, responsible for middle and back office functions. His responsibilities include operations, finance, technology and compliance. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Beyda was Chief Technology Officer of Serengeti Asset Management LP, where he had both systems and operational responsibility from pre-launch through 4x growth in AUM achieved in less than a year. Before joining Serengeti, Mr. Beyda was the North American Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Information Technology for Dimension Data Holdings (LSE:DDT), a global systems integrator with a market cap of over $12 billion. Mr. Beyda began his career with Arthur Andersen’s business consulting group, followed by various executive roles in early-stage ventures. Mr. Beyda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Patrick Cronin

Sr. Vice President of Finance

Mr. Cronin joined Colbeck in October 2019 as the Vice President of Finance. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Cronin was the Global Fund Controller at HPS Investment Partners, LLC, a $50+ billion private credit focused alternative investment manager.  Mr. Cronin spent 11 years at HPS where he was responsible for the accounting and reporting for over 120 private credit funds.  Prior to HPS, Mr. Cronin held various accounting positions at Alliance Bernstein, Paloma Partners, SunAmerica Asset Management and Dreyfus. Mr. Cronin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Iona College.

Thomas Wilhelm

Managing Director

Mr. Wilhelm resumed working with Colbeck in 2014. Mr. Wilhelm has primary responsibility for third-party capital and other strategic initiatives. Previously, Mr. Wilhelm was the Director-Infrastructure at McMorgan & Company LLC, which has been managing pension and other institutional assets for more than 40 years. In that capacity, Mr. Wilhelm was the primary lead on organizing, raising, and managing the McMorgan Infrastructure Fund I, L.P., a $1.325 billion private equity fund that is a direct member of the Global Strategic Investment Alliance. The Global Strategic Investment Alliance is an $11.33 billion co-investment consortium organized in partnership with the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS), Global Pension Investment Fund of Japan, Mitsubishi Corporation, and the Pension Fund Association of Japan, among other international investors. Mr. Wilhelm was a Principal at the Los Angeles-based investment firm The Yucaipa Companies, LLC with direct responsibility for the origination, diligence and structuring of direct equity investments. In that capacity, among other responsibilities, Mr. Wilhelm had day-to-day responsibility for a joint venture relationship between The Yucaipa Companies, LLC and Colbeck. Previous to joining The Yucaipa Companies, LLC, Mr. Wilhelm was a practicing attorney and in that capacity worked closely with dozens of institutional pension investors.

Eidul Hossein

Controller

Mr. Hossein has 15 years of experience in financial, operational and administrative areas in the alternative investment industry. At Colbeck, Mr. Hossein is responsible for finance administration, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, treasury management, and various compliance activities. Prior to joining Colbeck, Mr. Hossein was the Vice President and Controller at DiMaio Ahmad Capital, LLC, an alternative investment management firm specializing in credit products. He also held various positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Mr. Hossein holds a dual Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting & Information Systems and Economics from the Queens College of the City University of New York.
